Position: Residential Care Worker
Nature of position:
28.08 hours per week. Night shifts rotating 4 nights on and 4 off. Temporary until return of incumbent.
Rate of pay: As per Collective Agreement - Grid Level 10
Location: Hoover Road Group Home
Valid Class IV Driver's License, current First Aid and CPR, current (every 3 years) TB test results, must have a current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, and a completed Physicians Approval of Health. Food Safe Certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are also required.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field. Three-to-six-month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities. Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging and/or aggressive behaviour an asset. Must display a proven ability to work with challenging and aggressive behaviour calmly and effectively. Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and mental illness. Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member. Basic computer skills required. Must be physically fit, willing, and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
