Position: Residential Care Worker
Nature of position:
16 hours per week; night shift Friday and Saturday 11PM-7am. Female applicants only BFOR. Temporary until return of incumbent.
Rate of pay: As per Collective Agreement - Grid Level 10
Valid Class IV Driver's License, current First Aid and CPR, current (every 3 years) TB test results, must have a current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, and a completed Physicians Approval of Health. Food Safe Certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are also required.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field. Three-to-six-month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities. Preference given to those with previous experience working with individuals with Autism. Must have working knowledge of Autism, sign language and Augmentative Communication systems. Must display a proven ability to work with individuals calmly and effectively with complex behavioral and emotional needs. Must display energy and enthusiasm and be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job. Must be comfortable and willing to work both independently as well as closely with the individual’s family.
